On July 12, 2022, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) held an online English info session on grant application for foreign faculty and staff, and research managers from all schools, institutes and centers, in order to help them have a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of available grants and relevant details. Altogether, 10 foreign faculty, staff and 8 research managers participated in this info session and actively interacted with OIA; they are from School of Physical Science and Technology, School of Life Science and Technology, School of Information Science and Technology, School of Entrepreneurship and Management, and Institute of Humanities.
OIA introduced 7 major funding programs provided by Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and Ministry of Education (MOE), detailing eligibility, language requirements, preparation time and difficulty, program durations, funding amount, etc. Afterwards, OIA and Office of Research (OR) answered questions and shared the slides with all foreign faculty, staff and research managers.
OIA will communicate with individual faculty and staff according to their specific inquiries, so as to continue to follow up and address their demands. In the future, OIA will organize at least one info session on grant application each semester, as well as other events according to the needs of our foreign faculty and staff. This info session provides a boost to the research work and career development of our foreign faculty and staff, and also reflects the care and attention from the University.
